* Rivers Political Structure Was OwnedAnd Built By Odili, Not Wike
.......DARLINGTON ORJI
• Rivers People Will Resist Attempt To Impeach Fubara
LAGOS – The caretaker chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, Darlington Orji has said that nobody should enslave or threaten Rivers people with the talk about structure, stressing that the political structure in the state was owned and built by the former governor of the state, Peter Odili.
According to Orji, the Federal Territory Minister (FCT), Nyesom Wike has served out his tenure as governor and should allow Rivers to breathe, stressing that any attempt by the pro-Wike ex-lawmakers to impeach Sim Fubara will be resisted by Rivers people.
Orji who spoke on Arise TV on Tuesday noted that the Martins Amaewhule led group lacks the locus to serve impeachment notice on the Governor. “As of today they’re not members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, for the trouble they caused themselves. So, they cannot serve impeachment notice to the governor and again Rivers people are waiting for that to happen and we’re going to resist it,” he added.
On the issue of Rivers State political structure, he said, “I’ve told you in clear terms that as at the time he (Wike) was campaigning to be the governor of Rivers State in second tenure, I was the spokesman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State and I joined the campaign in all the local governments. I anchored all the programmes.
“No one person can win an election. All of us contributed to the success of any person emerging. Let me also tell you very straight so that you can understand, if you’re talking about the owner of the structure in Rivers State, the structure was owned, organised and built by Sir Peter Odili. Every politician that you can think of in the state today no matter the divide he or she belongs to is a product of H.E. Peter Odili, the former governor of Rivers State. So what happens to him?
“When you build, we’re like a family. People will graduate from one step to another. That you built a structure does it mean that you’re going to own the people? Can you own my life? Are you the giver of life? The poor must breathe. Rivers people must have a choice,” Orji added.
