First Bank Officially Changes Name to First HoldCo Plc

First Bank has changed its name. The new name will be on all official documents starting now, as the change is already approved.

Nigeria’s oldest financial institution has taken a bold new step in its evolution. First Bank of Nigeria’s parent company, FBN Holdings Plc, has officially changed its name to First HoldCo Plc, marking the beginning of a new era in the bank’s history.

The rebranding was approved by shareholders in late 2024 and officially announced in February 2025. According to management, the change is part of a broader strategy to strengthen corporate governance, streamline operations, and align with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s regulatory framework for holding companies.

“This update was officially announced by First Bank’s management in February 2025.”
