News Update: President Tinubu Suspends Fubara, Declared State Of Emergency In Rivers







President Ahmed Tinubu has declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspending Governor Fubara, his deputy, and all members of the State House of Assembly for a period of six months. This decision was made following the prolonged political scandas and governance challenges in River state.


 Supreme Court Ruling: The Supreme Court recently ruled on the Rivers State political crisis, reinstating 27 lawmakers and ordering the governor to re-present the 2025 budget to the Assembly. However, legal experts and legislative lawyers are calling for the review of this judgement


President Tinubu  based  his action on Section 305 of the 1999  Nigerian Constitution to voiced out  this  declaration.. The section interprets a state of emergency as a situation of   terrorist attacks, national danger and disaster in which a government suspends normal constitutional procedures to regain total control and order.
