From January 2026, No Bank Without TIN

Did you know? From January 1, 2026, you may not be able to use your bank account without a Tax Identification Number (TIN).

This is part of Nigeria’s new Tax Administration Act 2025, and it affects:

Opening or operating bank accounts

Business transactions

Stockbrokers and insurance services

👉 Who needs it?
Every taxable person — whether you’re a trader, student, worker, or business owner.

👉 How to get it (Free):

1. Visit JTB Portal or any FIRS office.

2. Go with your NIN, utility bill, and passport.

3. Fill the form, collect your TIN, and update it with your bank.

Note: TIN does not replace BVN or NIN. It’s simply your tax identity.

✅Don’t wait till January. Register now and avoid being stranded.
