The 29-year-old man from Kano state faces charges for spreading false information and incitement of public disaffection.The charges state that on or about July 20, 2025, Isma’il falsely claimed President Tinubu was critically ill and had been poisoned, stating he confirmed this from official sources. This is said to violate the Penal Code of Nigeria.
The second charge claims he aimed to incite public contempt against the president by spreading these falsehoods.
The presiding magistrate, Ekpeyong Iyang, denied Isma’il’s bail request and ordered him to be held at the Keffi Correctional Centre. The case is scheduled for a hearing on August 19
